In 2021, we began hosting small gatherings in Nairobi where climate professionals could connect and start new partnerships — especially valuable after the isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic. Each event brought more voices and perspectives, and the network grew to exceed 1,000 active members after just 2 years.

By 2023, the impact of the network had captured the attention of policymakers. The Kenyan government approached us to provide insights on the Climate Change Amendment Act and to support the Africa Climate Summit.

We saw the potential for something even greater: a professional climate network not just for Kenya, but for communities across Africa. We wanted to share our model to empower and connect local climate leaders, and create a continent-wide community for climate action.

In 2025, we joined forces with Continent Rising, a media company focused on Africa’s green economy. By combining TCN’s community-driven approach with Continent Rising’s data infrastructure and deep sector expertise, we’re creating something even more powerful for climate professionals.
