One Acre Fund, a non-profit empowering over 4 million smallholder farmers across Sub-Saharan Africa with tools, financing, and training to overcome hunger and poverty, is deepening its engagement with carbon markets to create new opportunities for farmers. As part of this commitment, we are equipping our Government Relations teams with foundational knowledge on carbon policy frameworks to help farmers actively participate in and benefit equitably from the climate economy.

From 8–10 September 2025, we’ll host a capacity-building training in Nairobi for our Government Relations Leads. The session will explore the evolving carbon policy landscape and bolster advocacy for farmer-inclusive climate strategies. With pilot projects underway in Malawi, Rwanda, Tanzania, Zambia, and soon Kenya, this initiative strengthens our regional climate alignment.

We’re inviting expert speakers to present on:

  • The carbon policy landscape in Kenya and the wider East African region,
  • Key global carbon market trends, particularly those shaping the Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM),
  • Compliance markets under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, and
  • Emerging policy priorities and advocacy positions shaping legislative and regulatory developments.
