ABOUT US

The Nairobi Climate Network is a thriving and interconnected community of climate professionals propelling climate action in Kenya. We aim to accelerate Kenya’s path to climate positive growth that drives impact for the environment and for people.

As Kenya positions itself as a global hub for climate innovation, NCN serves as a connector — bringing together local experts, emerging leaders, and global partners to accelerate climate action. We do this by hosting curated events, improving access to information, and supporting collaboration across the climate ecosystem.

Our values are to work:

  • Ambitiously: creating meaningful platforms that move from dialogue to action
  • Collaboratively: bridging silos across sectors and disciplines
  • Inclusively: engaging a wide range of stakeholders — from corporates to community-based organisations
  • Locally: grounded in the Kenyan context and driven by Kenyan stakeholders

OUR WORK

We enable our COMMUNITY of climate professionals to:

  • CONNECT with a climate community: build local relationships in the climate space and share in-person experiences to build understanding and partnership
  • COLLABORATE with peers and partners: share their views, achievements, and opportunities on a members platform to collaborate with both local and global stakeholders
  • CONTRIBUTE to the climate ecosystem: join expert groups and create shared outputs on topical issues that help to inform policy making, share network insights and showcase climate action

OUR EVENTS

The Nairobi Climate Network is growing rapidly with an ambitious calendar of events to deliver by the end of this year. We host a monthly event, with a rotating mix of formats — from informal networking gatherings and thematic discussions to immersive field visits. Our event formats are typically in three formats:

  • Open Networking: Informal and open attendance events hosted in a local bar or restaurant, with a focus on intimate conversations and networking.
  • Themed Events: A curated event on a specific climate topic or theme. May feature a panel discussion, a fireside chat or speech, and a targeted guestlist. May be supported by a particular sponsor or partner organisation.
  • Experiential Learning: An ecosystem tour or workshop-based activity that takes members out of their comfort zone and gives them a live experience hosted by another member of the network to share knowledge and best practice.

EVENTS COORDINATOR ROLE

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Part-Time Events Coordinator to support the smooth planning and delivery of our growing events calendar. This flexible role is based in Nairobi and ideal for someone experienced in logistics, communications, and working in dynamic, fast-paced environments. • Support development of event formats, speaker flows, and run-of-show
  • Support with the identification of and tracking of budget items
  • Source and coordinate events collateral (e.g., banners, marketing materials, and goodie bags)
  • Coordinate logistics with event partners

Event Delivery

  • Oversee venue set-up, signage placement, tech checks, and overall ambiance to ensure a smooth experience for participants
  • Manage logistics on-site
  • Support guest check-in and handle real-time issues
  • Supervise part-time or temporary support staff
  • Coordinate with photographers to ensure that photos and/or videos are taken for NCN’s communications and archive

Post-Event Follow-Up

  • Track ticket sales, expenses, and engagement metrics

ABOUT YOU

  • Detail-oriented, reliable, and highly organised
  • A confident communicator — clear, courteous, and confident with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Comfortable juggling multiple moving parts and problem-solving in real time
  • Familiar with event coordination, either independently or as part of a team
  • Able to work flexibly — the workload will vary between 2 and 15 hours per week depending on the event cycle
